Course Outline
AI for Video
Course Description
This hands-on workshop teaches students who are new to AI video generation how to create short films using AI all in one day. Working with a single tool, Google Flow, you will learn three AI video production workflows: text-to-video, image-to-video, and multi-shot sequencing with character consistency and even music and sound.
You will start by learning how AI video generation works and how to prompt for moving images using story structure — loglines, beats, and cinematic language. From there, you'll take control of your character's look by designing reference frames in Flow's free image mode and animating them into clips.
As the course progresses, you'll plan multi-shot sequences using storyboards, lock character consistency with Flow's Ingredients system, and add dialogue, sound effects, and ambience to your clips.
In the final lesson, you'll assemble your shots on the Flow timeline, trim for pace, layer music, and screen your finished short film at a live premiere showcase.
By the end of the workshop, you'll understand the full AI filmmaking pipeline — from a one-sentence story idea to a polished 15–30 second short — and have a repeatable workflow you can apply to your own creative projects.
No coding experience required. Google AI Plus or Pro (recommended) subscription required.
Learning Objectives
- Lesson 1
Text-to-Video
- Explain the three AI video workflows and where text-to-video fits in the production pipeline
- Navigate Google Flow and understand free (image) vs. credit-based (video) generation
- Write a logline and break a story idea into 3–5 beats
- Apply the 5-part prompt formula (Subject, Action, Setting, Style, Camera) to write a text-to-video prompt
- Generate and iterate on a first clip in Flow Video mode
- Lesson 2
Image-to-Video
- Explain why image-to-video gives more control and consistency than text-to-video alone
- Generate a character image using Nano Banana 2 in Flow's Image mode (free)
- Use the image prompt formula to design a start frame and optional end frame
- Animate a still image into a video clip using Flow's Frames mode
- Troubleshoot common motion issues — warping, character drift, and busy mush
- Lesson 3
Storyboards, Sequences & Sound
- Build a storyboard that maps story beats to individual shots
- Use Flow's Ingredients system to lock character consistency across multiple shots
- Apply continuity basics — locked style phrase and the 180° rule — across a multi-shot sequence
- Add dialogue, SFX, and ambience to clips through audio prompting
- Generate 1–2 consistent shots from a storyboard plan using a locked Ingredient
- Lesson 4
Assembly, Polish & Showcase
- Generate remaining shots to complete a 3–4 shot sequence
- Assemble clips on the Flow timeline in storyboard order
- Trim shots for pace and extend scenes without regenerating using Scene extension
- Apply the polish checklist and layer a music or audio track
- Screen a finished 15–30 second short film at the live premiere showcase
